How We Test and Score Home Lifts

HomeLiftReviews evaluates every home lift using a structured, weighted scoring system across ten categories. Our reviews are independent — we do not accept payment for favourable reviews. Every score is fact-checked by a second editor before publication.

How we score home lifts

Each home lift we review receives individual scores from 0 to 10 in ten categories. These are then combined using weighted percentages to produce a single Overall Score out of 10.

Score calculation

Overall Score = (Safety × 20 + Ride Comfort × 10 + Design × 8 + Space Efficiency × 10 + Accessibility × 12 + Installation Flexibility × 12 + Maintenance Friendliness × 8 + Energy Use × 5 + Value for Money × 10 + After-Sales Confidence × 5) ÷ 100

Scores are rounded to one decimal place. We do not inflate scores or round up. A score of 8.0 represents an excellent product with minor limitations.

Our review process

  • We gather full technical specifications from the manufacturer and cross-check them with independent sources.
  • Where possible, we conduct hands-on site visits, installation walkthroughs, or supervised test rides.
  • For models we cannot test in person, we work from verified specification sheets, installer feedback, and owner accounts.
  • Every review is fact-checked by a second editor who was not involved in the original write-up.
  • We display the date a review was last fact-checked and the date it was last updated on every review page.

Editorial independence
